The Catalyst for something great

Unicom Credit Union has been rebranded to Catalyst Mutual - Money for the Thinkers. This name and identity change was undertaken to refocus our commitment to the University sector and better appeal to the target audience of University staff and their families. It emphasises that we are not like other financial institutions; Catalyst is the smarter alternative for all banking needs.
A differentiating factor of the Catalyst Mutual brand is the ‘personalities’ that are utilised in the branding, signage and advertising. These brand personalities form a part of university life. Whether a member is a ‘5AMER’ or a ‘DREAMER’, they all have a key role within the university sector. It is these ‘brand personalities’ that will encourage members to identify with the Catalyst brand.
Partnering with Brighton Consulting, a newly designed website was created to reflect the Catalyst brand and personality. Improved navigation, easy access to tools and online applications, as well as an inbuilt search engine are some of the new site features added for the convenience of members.
The branch at the University of New South Wales was re fitted with the Catalyst ‘look’. This included new signage, a plasma screen, black and white coloured walls and other modern features to complete the refurbishment.
Branded Paywave Visa debit cards are planned for implementation in November 2011, which will reinforce the Catalyst Mutual brand with members. In the coming months, other product and service offerings for Catalyst members will also be rolled out, which include a Smartphone banking app and e-statements.
Looking to the future, Community Alliance Credit Union envisions that through this significant rebrand there will be opportunities for growth in the University sector – the Catalyst for something great.
